There was no Apple!

Many of you will know that Newton summered in Ponferrada as was the fashion at the time.  While there he continued  his experiments on gravity using local feral cats thrown from the North turret (see picture below). Using data from these cat drops  he estimated gravity at 9.6 m/s.  Cats aren’t very popular in the town as they are blamed for his inaccurate estimate, gravity being 9.8 m/s. Apparently some cats landed on their front paws and some on their back and this threw out all his averages.  The local dogs at the time were encouraged to chase all cats away as a result (or tear them limb from limb). 

They still commemorate  Newton’s work here by throwing plastic cats off the turrets dripped in tuna paste and let the local dogs go crazy. It’s in the DNA experts think. 

The whole apple falling onto his head was baloney.
